Learn about and taste sour and wild ales from Oregon’s masters of the styles including Cascade Brewing’s Ron Gansberg, Block 15 Brewing’s Nick Arzner, De Garde Brewing’s Trevor Rogers and Breakside Brewery’s Ben Edmunds. This seated seminar style event features a panel of brewers and discussion on techniques, challenges and innovation in the brewing of brettanamyoces and lactobacillus tart, funky and sour beers. Throughout the talk guests will be treated to rare examples of the styles by the brewer panelists including many rare offerings. Stay after for a meet and greet and audience q & a.

Block 15 Beers:

Wildfire, Dortmunder Adambier
Brewed with German Munich, melanoidin, and smoked malts, Hallertaer hops and German ale yeast.  Matured three years in oak barrels with lactobacillus.  Dark brown in color with notes of fruit leather, dried tobacco, and oak, balanced acidity with a warming finish. 10.5% ABV
 
Framboise White
Belgian inspired wild/sour wit beer open fermented with our blend of wit yeast, lactobacillus, and brettanomyces. Matured ten months in Chardonnay barrels with organic golden raspberries from Denison Farms.  At blending we added more golden raspberries from this summers crop.  A really nice taste of summer to get you through the winter 8.5% ABV
 
Caves Saison, Spring
Farmhouse ale brewed with French pilsner and pale malt, oats and rye.  Open fermented with farhouse yeast and two brettanomyces.  4.5% ABV

Side Project Collaboration aged in Chardonnay Barrels
A sour farmhouse ale, barrel fermented and aged. After running through our coolship and beginning fermentation in barrels, we added a mixed wild culture from Side Project brewing to complement the mixed fermentation with our own yeast and bacteria.
Bright tropical fruit character with a bracing acidity balanced with rustic Brettanomyces notes and Chardonnay barrel influence.
6.8%abv 25ibu
 
Boysenberry Bu Weisse:
Barrel fermented and aged Berliner Weisse with Boysenberries
Our tart and refreshing Berliner with over two pounds per gallon of Oregon Boysenberries added, inducing a second fermentation in barrel. Huge aroma and flavor of Boysenberry, with a crisp acidity and subtle wild character.
4.4%abv 1ibu
