Madalyn Merkey’s music is generated from analog and computer synthesis, as well as her own voice. She studied sound at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and is a current student at the Center for Contemporary Music at Mills College. At Mills, Madalyn works in the archive, maintaining historic documents from the year 1950 on. For her performance at Yale Union, Madalyn will present eleven electronic compositions, made between 1965 and 1968 by Italian composer Enore Zaffiri and a selection of her own improvisational computer music.
Merkey was born in 1988. In 2012, she released her album Scent on New Images Ltd. She has a forthcoming 2014 release on New Images Ltd. called Valley Girl.
