Best Available Technology
Best Available Technology began in 1991 shortly after Kevin Palmer moved to Portland, but Palmer isn’t a local figure. He performs infrequently and has only recently released his music. This is odd behavior. The occupation of a producer is a promiscuous and public one. Odder still is that we learned of him through an online music vendor in the UK (BOOMKAT). This may seem anecdotal, but thinking about the isolated way in which his solo project has developed, and the banal way we learned of him, led us to ask a question: How do artists, now that they can consume and distribute art so quickly, maintain distinction? His set at Yale Union will be a survey of sorts and will feature work from the 90s until now.
